Insanity or Guts
Well I just found out yesterday that
John is moving to South Carolina to be
with his 16-year old “girlfriend” that he has never met in person. Some may say
“oh, isn’t that sweet”, but I am a bit of a pessimist at times. I say, “what the
hell?”. The HUGE age difference is a big deal to me, but my biggest objection to the
whole thing is that he is venturing into the unknown unprepared and has a very good chance of
ending up homeless. I mean the possibilities of serious trouble/failure are endless. I have
already tried many, many times to convince John not to do it. It won’t work, he is
stubborn, and trying to change his mind makes it worse.
I thought, well I can’t
stop him so I might as well help him plan for the possible problems that will come. Talk
about trial by fire. A new piece of information I just got is that her parents, who he
hoped to stay with , has not
even agreed to let him stay there. I see a big problem. If
Amanda or her parents ever abandon John
after he moves out there, I will personally fly out and kill them all (exaggerating, but
close).
I personally don’t think he should move out there until she is at least
18. By that time he could get a job and save some cash for the relocation. Also he would
actually be able to date her legally. This doesn’t mean I don’t like Amanda, I just
think she is acting her age, and she doesn’t completely understand. She just needs to
wait until she “grows up”. John’s problem, unfortunately, is that he goes blind
when female love interests are involved. I have seen it happen many times before.
